    • Breathtaking scenery, and excellent storytelling. Would Bruno have been so single minded had he spent a year studying in Turin?
    • Truly wonderful film. Totally absorbing. Beautiful scenery. Wonderfully natural actors.
    • The 4:3 Academy ratio was a great choice for portraying the wonderful mountain scenery.
Sympathetic acting & direction – lovely
    • Good story; fab scenery; beards!
    • Very novelistic, beautiful scenery
    • Best so far. Good to have a film with detailed relationships, stunning camera work &
      attention to detail.
    • Hypnotically absorbing from the first to its very last minute. Beautiful photography and
      deeply affecting.
    • Really enjoyable film. The acting, scenery & story were tremendous.
    • Beautiful chronicle of the ebb & flow of two lives. Thought provoking but not challenging to
      watch.
    • Great, bit long though!
    • Touching. Very good.

    • Needed to be made.
    • Oddly charming!
    • “If Women didn’t exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning”

    • Fascinating insight into life amongst the underclasses living in the Native American reservations. The performances from the non-professional actors were extremely good throughout.
    • Subtitles would have helped, but the ‘Moving pictures’ told an absorbing story.
    • Well, I thought life could never get worse for any of them, but then it did. [?] addictive, but I can’t explain why.
    • Blimey, I guess that’s what life is like on the reservations that the Native Americans were herded onto. Could have done with subtitles but followed it all. Wonderful ending when Bill stole everything.
    • I have heard and read about the grim life the poor Indians have and this film brings home the hopelessness. Some people have a lot to answer for…
    • Enjoyable and engrossing – great performances!
    • A very interesting picture of life for Native Americans and their fighting spirit.

    • Never seen a film like this! Husband & I knew there’d be violence & we might need to leave; but we had to stay, it’s so powerful. There are people living like this, now. Thank you, Film Club
    • Amazing view of Ukrainian village life.
    • Engrossing, atmospheric and visceral; incredible carnival scenes – memorable!
    • A good ‘cinematic’ experience – “gutwrenching” as one member of the audience told me!
  • ‘Very Good’: 4 votes
    • Interesting insight into another world. More than 30 years after the fall of the Soviet Union, nothing much has changed; those in authority (clergy, police, politicians) are inherently corrupt and everyone else struggle to rise above serfdom.
  • ‘Good’: 2 votes
    • Creepy. Where worlds collide.
    • On violent side for my tastes, but an engaging story. Found the end a little hard to believe.
  • ‘Satisfactory’: 2 votes
    • Disjointed.
    • Bit too much for gore me. Strange set piece.
  • ‘Poor’: 1 vote
    • An awful film. Wish I’d stayed at home!
