Synopsis:
Based on the diaries of Neus Pipó Simón, Marina, an 18-year-old Catalan, arrives in Galicia for a simple administrative process: to obtain her Father’s death certificate to apply for a Student Grant. Orphaned since childhood, she meets for the first time her grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, a biological family of which she knows almost nothing.
Carla Simón’s story of a young woman untangling a web of family secrets cements the Galician filmmaker’s aptitude for naturalism while also marking a bold new step towards magical realism.
