Caius Martius Coriolanus (Fiennes), revered and feared Roman General, is at odds with the city and his fellow citizens.  Pushed by his controlling and ambitious mother (Vanessa Redgrave) to seek the position of Consul, he is loath to ingratiate himself with the masses – to play the politician – whose votes he needs.  When the public refuse to support him his anger prompts a riot that ends in his downfall.  A visually powerful and utterly contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare’s play.

Director: Ralph Fiennes
