  1. Second time around, enjoyed this light-hearted, but witty film. Only the French can do this kind of rom com: the Brits need Bill Nighy and a cast of young heart-throbs, and even then it’s problematic. And Woody clearly gave it his support!

  2. A recent documentary biography on Woody Allen (shown by the Cramphorn last year and, over two nights, on BBC TV) suggested that Annie Hall was the first ever Romantic Comedy and that Woody Allen invented the genre. I disagree – the French were making Rom Coms before that. As Peter indicates, they are masters of it.
