First time director/writer Legrand cites Greek tragedies, Kramer vs Kramer and The Shining among his influences. Would he also admit to Zvyagintsev’s Loveless? Miriam and Antoine have divorced and she is seeking sole custody of their son Julien to protect him from a father she claims is violent. The judge rules for joint custody, Julien becoming a hostage to the escalating conflict between his parents. (see more…)

As this is a relatively short film, we will be holding our first discussion night for several seasons, in the Foyer of the Cramphorn Theatre, immediately following the conclusion of this film. We will be commenting on all films shown this season, plus there will be an opportunity the comment on the Film Club in general. All are welcome to attend.

Film Discussion Night: 9 January, 2020

Following a suggestion made at the AGM preceding the screening of COLD WAR, we are reinstating the Film Discussion nights. The first of these will be held on Thursday 9th January, following the screening of the film Custody. This is a chance to reflect on the first 7 films shown, as well as making comments/suggestions on the Film Club itself.
