- Excellent storytelling, having the narrative repeated, each time from a different perspective, to gradually reveal the truth. Kore-eda rarely disappoints!
- Very touching (as always). I thought it was going to be like “The Hunt” – but it was still cleverer
One of the finest filmmakers. - So unexpected. Loved it.

- An absorbing study of perception, subjectivity and human foibles. A comedy to those who think….?
- Confusing at times. Stunning performances – the contradictions of compassion, violence, parental detachment & childhood imagination. Bravery of outsides & their mechanisms of survival??
- Absorbing

- Confusing film, but I got the idea in the end.
- Beautifully filmed in places, but I felt it would make a better book.
- ‘Satisfactory’: 1 vote
- Too many flashbacks, either I lost the plot, or the film did!
- ‘Poor’: 0 votes

Probably the only time I’ve left film club with a profound sense of identifying with childhood bullying depicted. It was very true to my memory of the divide between friends.
