Enjoyable but quite patronising towards old age love lives. The way the oldies' relationship was wound up was unrealistic; both said the other smelled, had that been so relationship would never have got started. How old was mother meant to be? These days 60 is the new 40 and the government currently requires me to work until 67! Did not gel for me. Boyfriend totally charming.

Despite a contrived aspect, some missing storyline and some arty landscapes -in Hackney! overall an excellent film. The clever moves from scene to scene, good acting and humour added to an engaging and sympathetic look at difficult subjects- coming out, gay love, old age and loneliness, parent/child relations,Cultural expectations, grief. I thought the acting was sincere and realistic and not by numbers as the cynical critic observed. I thought the best film so far this season
