One of the nominations for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar (2014), Palestinian drama ‘Omar’ is the story of a young militant with a sensitive soul, caught between love and commitment to a cause, who takes part in a sniper attack on an Israeli base and, in the aftermath, is forced to become an informant against his own people. Critically praised for the rock-solid performances (particularly newcomer Adam Bakri as Omar), the political complexity, dramatic tension and the use of spectacular location photography, rolling deserts, barbed-wire fences and concrete walls of separation.

A game of betrayal and counter-betrayal set in the worlds of police informing and sectarian score-settling on either side of the Israel-Palestine divide.
